It was the announcement no one was expecting, the Spin-off Series based on Reki Kawahara’s iconic Sword Art Online Light Novel Series, and Keiichi Sigsawa’s Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online is getting a second season.
The announcement was made during the Denkai Bunko 30th Anniversary event on Saturday, the tv anime has gotten the green light for a second season.
The main staff members at Studio 3Hz will be returning for the second season, which features the following members and a congratulatory illustration from the director:
- Director: Masayuki Sakoi
- Series Script Supervisor: Yōsuke Kuroda
- Character Design/Chief Animation Director: Yoshio Kosakai
It has also been confirmed that Tomori Kusunoki will be returning for the role of LLENN. As mentioned previously, it is based on the light novel series by Keiichi Sigsawa, and illustrated by Kouhaku Kuroboshi. It is also a spin-off series of Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online Light Novel Series. The anime series first premiered in April 2018 and ended its first season in June 2018. The first season is available on Crunchyroll and Hulu.

In the world of guns and steel that is Gun Gale Online, LLENN has been a devoted, female solo player. She is obsessed with two things: donning herself entirely in pink and honing her skills with consistent game play. She quickly discovers her love for hunting other players (a.k.a. PK), and is soon known as the “Pink Devil.” Meanwhile, LLENN meets a beautiful yet mysterious player, Pitohui, and the two click right away. Doing as she is told by Pitohui, she enters the Squad Jam group battle.
