Last year, Marvel announced that the Company would be celebrating Black History Month with a series of Variant Covers that depict Marvel’s Most Prominent Black Superheroes. Here is a description of what the Company has to offer for this year’s Black History Month’s Variants:
“Marvel is proud to present the additional covers that will make up February’s collection. A celebration of the legacy of Black heroes in Marvel Comics’ storytelling, these beautiful pieces of art will grace the covers of our most popular ongoing titles throughout February and feature depictions of Storm, Black Panther, Miles Morales, Falcon, War Machine, Blade, Ironheart, and the new Valkyrie who recently appeared in KING IN BLACK: RETURN OF THE VALKYRIES #1. These beloved characters will be brought to life in the distinct, electrifying style of rising star artist Ernanda Souza in her Marvel Comics debut.”
That’s right, Ernanda Souza is making her Marvel debut, and what a way to make a debut; Souza is known for her work in the Gaming Industry, she illustrated for Dungeons & Dragons (Fifth Edition), Magic: The Gathering TCG, and Pathfinder. She also spoke with Marvel in an interview recently which you can check out today, here is a list of the comics that will have the Variants, please note that while there are eight variants confirmed but for now there are only seven available to view at this time.
