Marvel makes a Monumental Announcement regarding two new titles!
It certainly has been an eventful couple of weeks for Marvel, two days ago it was confirmed that Venom and Hulk will be getting a new creative team if you recall the previous creative team that consisted of Writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman brought us a phenomenal run on Venom, with it ending with April’s monumental 200th issue. Now Donny Cates is teaming up with artist Ryan Ottley (Invincible, Amazing Spider-Man) for a chance to take on The Hulk.
The new series is set to debut this fall, Cates, and Ottley will be following Bruce Banner who found a way to “radically control” his Hulk Persona. Sounds simple right? Well, when you’re dealing with the Hulk something that sounds like an extreme solution has dire consequences. Here’s what Donny Cates has to say about taking on the Hulk:
“Marvel just gave me the keys to the strongest one there is, Haha… oh boy. You guys are just not ready for this. You’re about to find out what happens when Ryan Ottley and I get angry… and guess what? Well… pretty sure you’re gonna like us a lot when we’re angry.“Donny Cates, Comic Book Writer for Marvel
But wait, what about their newest master of horror, Al Ewing? Well, fear not, Ewing and Ram V are taking the reins of Symbiote and will have the artistic team of Andrew Currie, Alex Sinclair, and Legendary Artist Bryan Hitch will be launching a new Symbiote Saga starting in the Free Comic Book Day 2021: Spider-Man/Venom free one-shot. After the FCBD Special, it will be followed up into Venom #1, which currently does not have a release date according to Newsarama.
“When my editors at Marvel reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since, This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions. It is also an utter thrill having the sort of call and response mechanic I’ve had with a writer like Al and an artist of Bryan’s caliber. Fans and new readers, strap in – you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”RAM V, Comic Book Writer
Al Ewing’s Current series, The Immortal Hulk will be ending soon with Issue #50, more information can be found here, and that was one of my earlier topics regarding the success of Marvel’s new Horror Line.
