A new interview with Kevin Feige mentions X-Men, but fans will have to wait.
Even though you’re looking forward to Dark Phoenix, you might have to wait for the X-Men in the MCU.
Kevin Feige recently sat down with io9 for an interview about Marvel Studio’s 5 Year Phase 4 Plan and he mentioned that it would “be awhile” when bringing the X-Men to the MCU and went onto saying:
“It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”Kevin Feige
Even though we have Dark Phoenix to look forward to in June, one of the most talked about films this year, Fans have been eagerly awaiting Disney and Fox’s merger to go through thinking it would mean that the Characters owned by Fox would finally come home to Marvel. But since Avengers: Endgame will be premiering on April 26th, it would bring closure to the first Eleven years of Marvel Studios Films.
In 2020, we’ll most likely be seeing a larger story including newer heroes who will be impacted by events from past films. But with it beginning Phase Four, there are topics that Mr. Feige cannot go into depth about in the topics of future films; There are two things closely related, Phase Four being higher than Avengers: Endgame, with any acknowledgment on Phase Four news, would potentially ruin Endgame. He thought it through and the films would be a worthy successor of the record-breaking first three phases of the MCU.
“The slate that we’re building over the next five years [is] not apples to apples,” he said when asked to compare the past and the future. “It is two very distinct things and I hope they’ll feel very distinct. But there is a similar mentality going into it, which is ‘How can we continue to tell stories with some of the characters that audiences already know and love in a unique way, in a different way, in surprising way, of which we have a lot of plans and ideas and work already going into it?’ [Then] ‘How can we introduce new characters that even hardcore fans, comic fans, have barely known or barely heard of.’ That’s really exciting too.”Kevin Feige
For more on this interview head over to io9, here’s hoping we find out more during Avengers: Endgame on April 26th!
