New Releases for March 6th, Red’s Picks of the Week.

It is that time of the week again, time for new releases! And of course, Picks of the Week!

Comic Picks:

Synopsis: Young Justice is back, baby! Bendis and Gleason reunite all your favorites in one place! Robin (Tim Drake-the best Robin) and Amethyst (best Princess of Gemworld!) team with Wonder Girl, Jinny Hex and the new Teen Lantern (not even close to the best Green Lantern) to take back the mysterious Gemworld from the evil forces of dark Opal. Meanwhile, the reunited Impulse and Superboy have a lot of explaining to do. Also in this issue, find out where Connor Kent has been all this time. This is a big issue for Superboy fans!

Red: If you grew up with the original Young Justice crew or you’re a fan of Gem World that has been wondering “What the heck DC? Why have you been holding out on me?! I have been missing Amethyst!” But we finally get to find out what Conner has been up to since his disappearance from New 52 and early rebirth.

Synopsis: END OF STORY ARC! As we move toward the shocking final arc of MIRKA ANDOLFO’s bestselling series, we explore the roots of UNNATURAL’s mythology. What’s the secret nesting in Leslie’s blood? And will she be strong enough to face the savage curse running in her own veins? A word of advice: stay away from spoilers as this issue’s final page will likely blow your mind!

Red: It has been one hell of a ride for Leslie, still on the run from the law, an ancient prophecy and a madman named “Jones”. Mirka Andolfo has been hitting it out of the park, writing, art, and colorist you name it. If you haven’t heard of this series I highly recommend you to check out the first issue.

Synopsis: From the World of Black Hammer comes a truly gripping tale of war and intrigue!

During the Golden Age of superheroes, an elite Air Force crew called the Black Hammer Squadron was formed to fight the Axis powers. Facing occult threats from the German side, this team must save a family of scientists from the Nazi’s. But the mysterious and dangerous Ghost Hunter is hot on their trail.

”Black Hammer is the maddest, most brilliant comic Ive read in years.” -Mark Millar (Kick Ass)

Red: Even though it is a new book it is on the pick of the week because with superheroes, fantasy, or Supernatural tale that usually takes the top of the pull list it is always good to take a walk on the wild side of Science Fiction, especially when you have writers like Jeff Lemire or Ray Fawkes penning the story. If you’re looking for a good story, I would recommend Ray Fawkes’ One Soul; a creator-owned story.

Synopsis: THE SHE-DEVIL WITH A SWORD IS QUEEN OF HYRKANIA! LONG MAY SHE REIGN! Dragan The Magnificent marches his massive Zamoran army to do battle with Sonja’s puny Hyrkanian forces. Any other monarch would retreat in cowardly fear. But Sonja will rely on the lessons she learned at THE COURT OF THE KHITAI, and empty her nephew Kryon’s BROTHERS OF MISFORTUNE… The epic ongoing continues, by MARK RUSSELL (The Flintstones, The Wonder Twins) and MIRKO COLAK (Conan).

Red: The She-Devil’s adventures are always a treat to read, recently gotten into reading her series when Gail Simone was writing for the series at that time, since then it is something I would recommend others to read if they are looking for a good Fantasy book. Mark Russell is a great writer, Miriko Corlak is another great artist to check out.

Synopsis: A new story starts for the Thirteenth Doctor, as her debut season leaves fans hungry for more stories starring the Doctor, Yasmin, Ryan, and Graham! There’s never been a better time to board the TARDIS, with Eisner Award nominee Jody Houser (Mother Panic, Stranger Things, Star Wars, Faith, Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows) writing fresh adventures through time and space!

Red: The Thirteenth Doctor has gotten some criticism from some fans claiming it was “Political Correctness in Action” but as the Doctor has mentioned before about regeneration “You can never expect what you’ll get when you regenerate.” but hey, I have been enjoying her new adventures! Can’t wait for the new season, but for you fellow whovians out there, check out this series while you wait for the Doctor to return.
